*Sheen was a very holy man, a man whose example I believe we need in the Catholic Church in America today. I believe that he is a saint in Heaven, taking our petitions to God almighty.
If you don't yet know Bishop Sheen you might want to watch this video or check out the links here so you can see why JPII called him "a loyal son of the Church" and understand why so many of us are supporting his cause for canonization.

A Miracle for Samantha

Because I created the Sheenazing Awards to bring together and celebrate the Catholic blogosphere and to raise awareness of Venerable Fulton Sheen and his cause for canonization* it seems providential that in the last hours of the voting I received the following email from a local Catholic school teacher:

My sixth grade class ... have developed a true devotion to [Sheen] -they love him! We have included the prayer for his canonization to our daily prayers since August. ... So we thought that we have a special partnership with him -- we pray for him, he prays for us. We have studied his first alleged miracle, and the kids are convinced that Rome will find this to be a valid miracle and FJS will be called blessed soon. My students have often discussed his need for a second miracle, and have spent some time discussing and guessing what that miracle would be.

On Tuesday [Jan 21], one of my sixth grade students [Samantha] was diagnosed with stage 4 Ewings Sarcoma [bone cancer]. The cancer is extremely aggressive, and has metastasized all over her body - arms, legs, pelvis, spine, chest, everywhere. This student, in particular, has a special love for Fulton. ... On the day of her diagnosis when I spoke with her mother, she asked that we pray in particular through the intercession of Fulton J. Sheen.

Her teacher goes on to say that many people are already praying for a miracle for Samantha and that they are asking Venerable Sheen to pray with them.

Please, before you scroll down to look at the winners for the Sheenazing Awards, please pray the following prayer:

Eternal Father, You alone grant us every blessing in Heaven and on earth, through the redemptive mission of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and by the working of the Holy Spirit.
If it be according to Your Will, glorify Your servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, by granting the favor I now request through his prayerful intercession:
the complete healing of Samantha from cancer and the return of her health.
I make this prayer confidently through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
 Amen

Thank you. +JMJ+

Watch, Read, Listen

Good morning. I can't sleep so let's blog!

First:
My good friends at the Behold Conference held a contest for a free registration to the March 1st conference. Go watch the videos, hear what real women have to say about Behold and then vote for your favorite! I know the winner will appreciate it!
And then register so we can hang out together at the conference! I know a handful of other great bloggers who will be there and it would be awesome if YOU could be too!

Second:
Some good clicks around the internet include
Kathryn kicking off her series on how to choose and afford Catholic school. I'll be back for more.
Rachel has the absolute best summaries of Downton. So unlike me.
Jessica has a whole new look at her blog - which I love! (You read Housewifespice, right? You should, especially if you're bookish. Which I pretend to be because I once was.)
Haley is helping us out by giving us pointers on how to celebrate Candlemas, and what it even is in the first place.
Kendra once again writes a piece where she takes something that most of us do, steps it up a notch, gives it a clever title, and is awesome.

Third:
Here's three songs I recently learned about that I'm really loving at the moment. Just thought I'd pass them along to you in case you too have been stuck in a musical rut lately.

Oh it's all just so Sheenazing!

Downton! Oh it was so good. But you know what was better?

Sherlock!  Travis and I cracked up through most of it. I looooved when John and Sherlock were playing the "Who am I?" game with the names on their foreheads. So funny. I was honestly a little bit disappointed in last week's episode - even though it was good, maybe my expectations were too high? - but this week's made up for it and then some.

I am Sher locked.

Finally, Monday is the last day to vote for the Sheenazing Awards. Go vote for your favorite bloggers and maybe find a couple new blogs to add to your list.

Winners will be announced Wednesday.

2014 Sheenazing Awards

Voting for the 2014 Sheenazing Awards is now CLOSED!
Thank you to everyone who voted!

The Sheenazing Blogger Awards get their name from Venerable Fulton J. Sheen, who was amazing at using the newest forms of media to communicate the beauty of the Catholic Church and his love of Christ to the world. They are a fun way to celebrate the excellence of the Catholic blogosphere and honor Venerable

There will be a winner and a runner up in each category. The winners will earn a firm virtual handshake, the pride in knowing that they've been named the Best of something by a fairly obscure blog, and the right to display the following on their site:

The nominees for each category are listed below, in case you want to check everyone out before you vote. Or you can just head on over and vote for your favorite here!
